Communities

The communities of the Asia Pacific are vast and The BEAP Group was formed to address the ABC's of better business. We believe that knowledge in the Arts Culture, Business & Entrepreneurship and Communities throughout the Asia Pacific is good for all of us who live within the region.

Our Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is keen to advance our understanding and engagement within the Asia Pacific community. There is a universal acceptance that the "global economic and strategic weight" was shining to Asia It is anticipated that by 2020, Asia will account for an estimated 45 percent of global GDP and one-third of global trade, while Asia's share of global military spending will have grown to nearly one quarter. Kevin Rudd has appointed Australia's former ambassador to Indonesia, Richard Woolcott, as his Asia-Pacific Community envoy to visit the region to begin the debate.

The BEAP Group is engaging with communities within Australia who have an ancestral link and heritage from other Asia Pacific countries. Representatives of these groups are welcome to share their knowledge, history and culture at our monthly Meet Up and at our quarterly forums.

The country in focus during our Quarterly Forum is Malaysia. During the March 2009 event there will be presentations from the arts, business and communities representing Malaysia. The convergence of these elements into one forum will provide the attendees an opportunity to hear the latest business and investment news and appreciate the art culture and community of this region.

At a local level we are beginning an active engagement with charities and not for profit organisations. We invite you to get to know these organisations and following up their link if you wish to connect directly with them.

Noah's Ark is a not-for-profit organisation that is committed to the provision of high quality professional and developmental support to children with a disability and additional needs. They also provide a professional advisory service for parents and carers who wish to explore the best options available to assist their children to realise their full potential.
